There, where the land ends and adventure begins.
Water sports such as surfing and windsurfing are not only spectacular to practice, but also beautiful to capture on camera. With my camera and drone, I aim to bring together the power of nature and the energy of the sport.
From the beach, I photograph surfers playing with the elements: the tension while waiting for the right wave, the graceful movements on the water, and the intensity of a successful ride. Windsurfing is all about speed, dynamics, and the interaction between wind and sea – moments that demand timing and a sharp eye.
With the drone, I add another perspective: from above you can see patterns in the waves, lines in the water, and the smallness of the surfer against the vast ocean. That contrast makes watersports photography unique and always surprising.
For me, it’s not only about the action, but also about the atmosphere around it: sunsets, foamy waves, and the calm moments between sessions. This creates a complete picture of the experience on and around the water.
De Slag om Domburg 2025
The Battle of Domburg 2025 – Where only the storm rules
With its fifth edition, The Battle of Domburg has firmly established itself as one of the biggest and most spectacular windsurfing competitions in the Netherlands. The event attracts top riders and enthusiasts to Domburg, Zeeland, where the North Sea becomes the ultimate test. And as tradition dictates: the start is only given when conditions are truly extreme – from 30 knots of wind or more.
Yesterday, the 40 participants got exactly what they came for. The coastline was battered by gusts up to 46 knots, while currents and massive waves took the battle with the elements to the next level. For the surfers it was a struggle, for the spectators a true spectacle: boards launched into the air, jumps through foamy crests, and fights for control on the edge of what is possible. Even the gear suffered – torn sails and broken masts were part of the game.
The Battle of Domburg lived up to its name.
After a day of heroic heats and breathtaking runs, four absolute heavyweights made it to the final. In the end, it was Henri Kolberg who mastered the chaos best. With nerves of steel, perfect timing and impressive board control, he claimed victory and wrote his name into the history of The Battle of Domburg.

3. Remko de Zeeuw
The Battle of Domburg 2025 once again showed what this competition is all about: pure power, raw nature and windsurfing in its most untamed form. No event captures the essence of the sport better: man versus nature, storm versus skill.
On this day I captured several photos and videos, some of which were featured in Surf Magazin (German) and Omroep Zeeland
